As someone who’s on nearly every social media site out there, I’ve probably managed to disappoint some of my friends, family members, followers, or subscribers for not always acknowledging them.
To help explain my stance (and save a bit of time by doing this once 🙂 ), I thought I’d put together a list of the 6 things that all my social media followers should know about me.
- I’m Always Appreciative I, like most normal human beings, do enjoy the attention I get from Facebook, Twitter and especially my blog. I know you probably have more important things to do than waste your time commenting on my social venues, and for that, I am genuinely grateful. Before you get discouraged by #2 below, I want to make sure you know that I read nearly every single comment, and that I never get tired of them, so please do keep them coming.
- I Can’t Reply to Everything It is nearly impossible for me to reply to or acknowledge every single Facebook notification, retweet mention, or LinkedIn comment. I tried that once on my blog and found out I was spending 2 to 3 hours just crafting responses and answering questions in the comments section. Again, I do feel really humbled by every acknowledgment – friends, family, and strangers alike – so I truly am thankful.
- I Sometimes Miss Stuff There are times when I just miss your notifications. Usually that’s my fault, such as when I don’t see your “like” in the way-too-long and muddy list. Other times, the technology just fails on me and I never get the update for some weird reason (yes, that does happen). In both cases, I’m sorry.
- I’m not Always Online: If I just published something on my blog, that doesn’t necessarily mean I’m online at that moment (I sometimes schedule posts to be automatically published at pre-defined times). Also, if I just retweeted your status on Twitter, that doesn’t mean I’m logged into Facebook or LinkedIn. Same applies for the other way around.
- I Still Like you: If I acknowledge someone’s comment but skip out on yours, that doesn’t mean I love you less or I love them more. See #2 or #3 for possible explanations.
- I’ll Reciprocate: I promise I won’t hold you accountable for any of the above as well. I don’t expect you to acknowledge any of my comments, and I know that you sometimes miss stuff and that you still love me. By reading this, you have my pledge that what applies to you applies to me.
Happy Social Media’ing!
Comments are welcome below (responses aren’t guaranteed though 😉 ).

I like your blog and don’t mind if you don’t respond. I am new at this, so checking out what others do. I see I have to switch over to gmail now too.
Thanks, Carla
