Many business leaders are wondering if we’re in an AI bubble that’s about to burst.
A while ago, David Cahn (a partner at Sequoia) published a great article entitled “AI’s $600B Question.”
He questions where all the revenue is coming from to balance all that spending.
He also gives some counterarguments to the “building railroads” analogy (that spending money on GPUs will eventually bring in all the trains), and warns that there’s a long road ahead.
I highly recommend you read the article by clicking here.
AI + Robotics: Skild AI Raises $300M
Skild AI is a company that’s developing a scalable AI foundation model for robotics, intended to serve as a general-purpose brain across various robot types and applications.
They just raised $300M in a Series A funding round, backed by several investors, including Bezos Expeditions.
This combination of both AI and robotics will help businesses enhance both productivity and efficiency at scale. They’ll be able to deploy general-purpose robots to address labor shortages and reduce risks in dangerous work environments, ensuring safer and more reliable operations.
Is GPT-4o Falling Behind Claude 3.5 Sonnet?
Alex Albert (who works at Anthropic) shared this chart, which shows an aggregate score for all major AI models that were released since early 2023.
It’s been quite the year😅
Although aggregate scores and benchmarks are not always accurate, the common deduction is that GPT-4o is falling behind Claude 3.5 Sonnet.
However my takeaway from the chart is a macro one:
The war among different AI models is not just about getting better (dots are moving up and to the right) but also getting faster (dots on the far right are closer to each other than those on the left).
Few expect this trend to slow down anytime soon, and in the coming weeks and months, we’ll see much smarter models released at a much faster pace.
