A week ago, OpenAI released a new series of reasoning models in ChatGPT.
Those new models (called o1-preview and o1-mini) spend more time thinking about problems before solving them, and the results are impressive.
Here’s an analysis by LMSYS Org that shows how both o1-preview and o1-mini rank among other models (with o1-preview ranking #1 overall)
You can start using both o1-preview and o1-mini today if you subscribe to ChatGPT Plus (read more about the release of those models from OpenAI by clicking here).
Ethan Mollick also wrote a great article that talks about how those new OpenAI models differ from all the others because they follow a new scaling law (one that’s about “thinking” vs. “training”). Click here to read his article.
LinkedIn Uses Your Data for GenAI Improvement (How to Opt Out)
Apparently, LinkedIn has automatically opted everyone into using their personal data and content they create on LinkedIn to train their generative AI models.
Here are some instructions from Rachel Tobac on how to turn that feature off.
AIO (AI Optimization) is the New SEO
A recent article by Allie K. Miller highlights why your SEO strategy is obsolete and that AIO, or Artificial Intelligence Optimization, is coming next
She talks about how customers are using AI in different ways, including:
- Using AI as a search engine (e.g., using tools such as Perplexity)
- Using AI as a comparison shopper (e.g., using Claude to create a decision matrix)
- Using AI for negotiations (e.g., using an LLM to negotiate a lower annual fee)
Here’s one example she shared of using Claude to compare offers from two different credit card companies.

One Prompt You Can Use at Work Today
Here’s a practical ChatGPT Prompt you can use at work:
A team member [issue] and [result]. I need to address this issue with them but I’m not sure how to approach the conversation without hurting their feelings. Can you suggest some ways to communicate my concerns effectively?
For example,
A team member has not been meeting deadlines and their performance is affecting the entire team. I need to address this issue with them but I’m not sure how to approach the conversation without hurting their feelings. Can you suggest some ways to communicate my concerns effectively?
If you would like to see more of those prompts, check out my free book called: ChatGPT for Better Business Communication.
