Tara Powers is the author of “Virtual Teams for Dummies,” a book that should definitely be on your bookshelf if you’re interested in remote work.
Tara never really intended on writing a book, but Wiley (the publisher of the “For Dummies” series) reached out to her after she published articles on LinkedIn, asking her if she would be interested.
On the latest episode of my podcast, “Writer on the Side“, I talk to Tara, where she shares the story of how she wrote the book, some lessons-learned about working with a traditional publisher, and 3 great tips about how to write your own book on the side.

P.S. Interesting story (& disclosure): I’m the technical editor of the book. Tara had reached out a while ago asking me if I’d be interested in being her technical editor and I said yes. We ended up working together for over a year without talking once on the phone.
This podcast episode is the first time we ever connected live, and I think it’s just a testament to the power of working virtually & the future of work.
